How We Start and End Our Day
PATRICK HENRY -- the "Fire Brand of the Revolution", stirred the feelings for independence and patriotism in his fellow countrymen. His most famous speech states,"I KNOW NOT WHAT COURSE OTHERS MAY TAKE, BUT AS FOR ME, GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH !" IN THE TRADITION OF PATRICK HENRY WE BEGIN THE DAY WITH A BUGLE CALL AND THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE. ON MONDAYS "THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER" IS PLAYED. WE SHOW RESPECT BY STANDING QUIETLY FACING THE FLAG. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, One Nation under God, Indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER Oh! say can you see, by the dawn's early light, What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming? Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming? And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air. Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. Oh! say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?" THE DAY ENDS WITH A BUGLE CALL WHILE THE FLAG IS BEING LOWERED ON THE OUTDOOR STAGE. WHEN COMPLETED, THE TEACHER DISMISSES CLASS. |
